Preamble
We, the members of the NRB (Non Resident Bangladeshi) Professionals Inc, unite to foster a sense of community, promote development, and advocate for the welfare of Bangladeshis worldwide. This constitution outlines the structure, objectives, and guiding principles of our organization.
Article I: Objectives
Unity: Promote unity and solidarity among Bangladeshis globally.
Development: Support economic, social, and cultural development in Bangladesh and among its diaspora.
Global Citizenship: Foster global citizenship and advocate for the rights and interests of Bangladeshis worldwide.
Reform: Encourage reform and progress in areas affecting Bangladeshis, such as education, healthcare, and human rights.
Article II: Membership
Eligibility: Membership is open to individuals of Bangladeshi origin or descent who share the organization’s objectives.
Membership Fee: The minimum membership fee is $10 per month, payable annually or monthly.
Rights and Responsibilities: Members have the right to participate in decision-making processes, vote in elections, and access organization resources. Members are responsible for paying fees, adhering to the constitution, and contributing to the organization’s objectives.
Article III: Executive Committee
Structure: The Executive Committee consists of 7-11 members, elected by the general membership.
Term: The Executive Committee serves a 2-year term.
Roles:
President: Chairs the Executive Committee and represents the organization.
Vice-President: Assists the President and assumes responsibilities in their absence.
Secretary-General: Manages day-to-day operations, communications, and records.
Treasurer: Oversees financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
Other members: Support specific projects and initiatives.
Article IV: Projects and Initiatives
Unity:
Cultural events and festivals
Community outreach and engagement programs
Online forums and social media groups
Development:
Education and skills development initiatives
Economic empowerment programs
Healthcare and wellness initiatives
Global Citizenship:
Advocacy for Bangladeshi rights and interests globally
Cultural exchange programs
International partnerships and collaborations
Reform:
Research and policy initiatives on issues affecting Bangladeshis
Community mobilization and awareness-raising campaigns
Collaboration with other organizations and stakeholders
Article V: Governance
General Assembly: The General Assembly, comprising all members, meets annually to discuss progress, set priorities, and elect the Executive Committee.
Executive Committee Meetings: The Executive Committee meets quarterly to discuss ongoing projects, address challenges, and make decisions.
Decision-Making: Decisions are made by consensus or majority vote, with the President casting a tie-breaking vote when necessary.
Article VI: Finance and Accountability
Financial Management: The Treasurer manages the organization’s finances, ensuring transparency and accountability.
Auditing: The organization’s finances are audited annually by an independent auditor.
Budgeting: The Executive Committee prepares and approves an annual budget.
Article VII: Amendments
Proposal: Amendments to the constitution can be proposed by the Executive Committee or a petition signed by at least 10% of the membership.
Approval: Amendments require a two-thirds majority vote by the General Assembly.
Article VIII: Dissolution
Dissolution: The organization can be dissolved by a three-fourths majority vote by the General Assembly.
Asset Distribution: In the event of dissolution, assets are distributed to organizations with similar objectives, as determined by the General Assembly.
